What is Vastu Shastra?
In previous days so many people asked about what is vastu, but now a days no body in India asked about Vaasthu, why because now everybody knows about Vaastu. This happens only because of communication revolution. Now we are discussing about what is Vasthu.
In simple words Vaastu means a system of construction that renders peace, satisfactory life to the residents of that house build according to Vaastu Shastra. Vaastu shastra in fact, is a very old science of our great country India. Its knowledge can enable us to get benefits of mental peace, health, wealth etc, and make our lives happy. This science, after propounding the rules of construction, goes to prove that by constructing properly our buildings, villages, towns, cities, shops offices, factories and industries, we can make ourselves prosperous. On the contrary, the residents of such buildings, as are at variance with the rules of this science, face several calamities, shortages, diseases and financial insecurity throughout their lives. Our ancient sages and Rushis created vaastu shastra for the welfare of entire humanity.
Well, in other way Vastu Shastra is an ancient Hindu word, it arrived from the word “VASTU SHASTRA” in some simple words Vaastu means the Place/house where a person lives and performs work is called as Vastu. According to Indian ancient classical texts Vastu means appropriate land for house for humans. All types of houses, buildings, sites, flats, plots, bungalow, industries where ever a person lives or works called Vastu .Vastu in Sanskrit means nature, a surrounding or environment. The word "Vaasthu" came from Vasthu, denoting anything existing such as house, shelter building etc. Shastra in Sanskrit means systems. Vastu Shastra is an ancient art and science containing principles and practices of constructing buildings which ensures a harmonious balance between man and nature and thereby bring all round happiness, health, wealth and prosperity.

What is the main object of Vastu ?
The object of the Vastu Shastra is blessing the human beings who followed the principles of vaastu Shastra. The object of Vastu Shastra is to provide guidelines for proper construction of houses, shops, commercial buildings etc. Vastu determines the position of the house with regard to points of a compass and dictates the proportions of every detail in building, directions, skylines, elongations, levels, slopes, water (underground and overhead), kitchen, bedrooms, toilets, staircase, heights of ceilings and roofs, entrances, location of doors and windows, compound walls and so on.

Is Vastu brings happiness and prosperity ?
Definitely Yes, Vastushastra suggests ways in which we can live in tune with the laws of nature, then we will be healthy, peaceful and work efficiently, hard, systematic that results in prosperity and happiness, the people who followed vaastu will say correct definition for this question, because vaastu is a science it works, its not a miracle to make people fools. If we followed vaastu shastra we will overcome from mental tensions, loans, debts and so many other problems.

Is there any scientific analysis of Vaastu?
Yes there is a scientific analysis of this Vaastu, otherwise how the people in a whole country are following one Shastra. First we will go through one small example of analysis of Vaastu Shastra.
Actually it may be some difficult but not impossible to give scientific analysis for every matter pertaining to Vaastu Shastra. There are so many aspects that are not explained by science. These aspects should not be counted and considered as false belief. Vaastu rules hence should not be thrown away just because, some of them are not given scientific approach.
Now we are discussing about one WELL:
Let us understand the placement of well. According to Vaastu, one has to dig a well either in northeast corner or in east or north directions. When we dig a well certain poisonous gases come along with the water, from the ground. If the weight of the quantity of the gases is less, they have the tendency to come out and spread. These poisonous gases are carried away by the wind, and thus follow the path of wind. Scientific calculations prove that the 80% to 90% of the annual wind direction is from southwest to northeast direction. When there is a well in the northeast corner, the wind blowing from the south. West corner carry these gases still more towards the northeast thus stopping the gases from entering into the house. Now we are discussing what will be happen if the well is at southwest corner or south or west side of the house, if there is a well at those places the poisonous gases enter into house directly it causes ill- health. This affects their nervous system, which in turn affects their thinking process. This finally obstructs their prosperity and happiness. So a well should not be constructed in the southwest corner

How do we start a construction work according to vaastu?
For a many storied building or a lengthy building or a small size building, the foundation pit must be made at the east or north part of the plot. After finishing the foundation at southwest part and complete the work at north east part. If anyone does not follow this method the work will stop in the half way. There will be misunderstanding between the owner and the constructor. It may lead to court case also. There will be problems. The construction may not be completed.
