What Is Sankustapana

1. Definition: Sankustapana refers to the laying of the foundation stone on a vacant plot before construction begins. It is the first and most important step in building a house according to Vastu.

2. Alternative Names: This auspicious ritual is known by different names in various regions such as Bhumi Pooja, Bhoomi Puja, Bumi Puja, Bedrock Ceremony, or Groundbreaking Ceremony.

3. Spiritual Significance: As per ancient traditions, the land (Bhoomi) is considered divine. Before disturbing it for construction, one must perform rituals to seek blessings from Mother Earth.

4. Panchabhoota Balance: The five natural elements, Vaayu (Air), Jal (Water), Prithvi (Earth), Aakash (Space), and Agni (Fire), must be balanced and pleased through proper rituals for positive energy flow.
