Tasmania, casually known as “Tassie” is an island state of Common Wealth of Australia. The island is located 240 km South of the Australian mainland and its territory comprises of the main island and 334 other small islets. Most of the island's population is centralized and lives in the metropolitan area. The rest of the areas are reserved as natural or protected sites, with some of them regarded as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The island is famous for its natural beauty, reserved parks, wilderness, landscapes, colonial-era remains and buildings, galleries, and museums. The name of the state is after the Dutch explorer “Abel Tasman” who first discovered the island in 1642.
Scientists and ecologists believe that there was a land bridge between Tasmania and Australian mainland around 10,000 years ago but as the sea level raised, it vanished. It is also believed that the local people of the island migrated from the Australian mainland via the land bridge to the island around 40,000-60,000 years ago. Details are not well known about their history but these people were mostly dependent on Farming, hunting, fishing, and cattle. By the time of the European arrival, numerous groups of these people were living in their respective areas. The island was discovered first by the Dutch explorer in 1642 but no permanent colony came from the Dutch site. Later many French and British explorers also visited and explored the island at different times. By the end of the 18th-century Adventure bay (part of Tasmanian island) became a whaling station and many fishermen that hunted for whales and seals settled there. In 1803, the governor of New South Wales sent a small expedition towards Tasmania to maintain a military presence in the island in fear that French may not occupy it as French expeditions were also active in the area. Gradually many settlers started to settle in Tasmania and permanent colonies were established mostly of convicts. From 1820 and onwards, a war known as “Black War” started between the local (aboriginal people) which caused thousands of deaths of local people. The people were either mascaraed, starved to death or either died of diseases. Often termed as war, many historians described these events as a massacre and inhuman act was done by the British colonists. Majority of the local population died and the survivors were forced out of their areas. By the end of 1825, the colony of Tasmania declared its self as an independent colony from the New South Wales. Furthermore, the arrival of immigrants towards the island was stopped. In 1901, along with other Australian colonies, Tasmania ceased self-rule and became part of “Common Wealth of Australia”.
Due to the island’s isolation from rest of the world, the island has unique geography, topography and rich flora and fauna. In other words, it’s just heaven on earth. There are numerous beautiful islands, beaches, forests, mountains, landscapes, waterfalls, farms and wildlife. As described earlier, most of its population is concentrated in cities especially Hobart and its suburbs. The rest of the areas are natural and wildlife reserves. Also, Tasmania is home to some of the unique wildlife species in the world. “Tasmanian Tigers” which once lived in Tasmania and were the pride of the region are now extinct.
Agriculture and mining were the backbones of Tasmania’s economy since the colonial times. But as the time passed many other sectors were also introduced like Industries, manufacturing, services, forestry, and tourism. Due to favorable conditions and climate, Tasmania is one of the best agriculture regions. Some of the main agricultural products include Apples, Pears, Strawberries, Carrots, Saffron, Cherries, and Vine. Some of the minerals that are mined in Tasmania include copper, gold, zinc, tin, and iron. Tourism is the emerging and fastest growing economic sectors. As described earlier, there are numerous unique spots all over Tasmania which attract millions of tourists each year.
Most of the present population of Tasmania are decedents of British colonists that arrived in the 19th century. Major areas where the population is concentrated include Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, Burnie, and Ulverston.

We are tech professionals and working in USA. After a year long search we brought the house. After buying the house I started looking for consultant who can help me evaluating the house. I came across Subhavaastu website which has lot of information. I contacted Mr.Suresh and requested him to help with our house vastu. It has been an incredible delight working with him.. I really appreciate Mr. Suresh's help in evaluating our house - Padma - Boston - USA
"I contacted Sureshji to consult on our current home. He was spot on in identifying vastu dosha in regards to the problems we were having. He suggested remedies but we are still looking for a new house. Since then I have been in touch with him for finding a right home for us. He is very sincere and truly wishes better lives for everyone. He doesn’t compromise with quality and is always responsive to queries. He recommends solutions as per location as vaastu rules differ for each country. He is greatly contributing to the society with his knowledge of Vaastu Shastra and dedication towards his work. Keep up the good work Sureshji and wish you success and happiness!" - Megha - Virginia - USA
I have consulted Suresh Garu during December 2014 during the process of buying a house in Texas, USA. I have occupied the house for one year now, and feel like dropping a review regarding my experience during the entire process. I am very much satisfied with the kind of service I received from him. He is very knowledgeable and I was often stunned by his detailed analysis during the course of my interaction with him. He was very much accessible over phone (perhaps more than 10 times for one house plan!) and the price is very much reasonable especially compared with the cost of the house. I noticed his burning desire to help me in making informed decisions on certain things. I have seen some people pretending to know this subject and misguiding those who come for help by saying only what we want to hear. SubhaVaastu is definitely not that one. Finally, I am strong believer of leaving certain things to experts in those subjects. I have been in US for more than 13 years and have seen people doing their own corrections (by reading website articles) trying to save few dollars. Please don’t do that. You would end up in causing more damage. I highly recommend you to engage SubhaVaastu in your next project - Satish - Dallas - TX - USA
